No hyperbole here. It’s just the facts. Television technology has improved by leaps and bounds in the past couple of years and competition for your discretionary dollars is really fierce. So, you get the latest technology with all the best features and a variety of choices, at a great price.
Don’t worry, we’re not talking about a big bulky TV taking up precious counter space in your kitchen. The latest TVs are sleek and light and will fit nicely in almost any spot you choose.
Any TV can be held with the variety of mounts available today. You can swivel the mount to make it easy to view from anywhere in your kitchen and a cable track will keep your cables neatly tucked away out of sight. So, with the popularity of home entertainment, under counter TVs are found in more and more kitchens.
You can attach the TV to the underside of your kitchen cabinet and unlike your standard kitchen TV, it operates upside down. Valuable counter space is protected with this inovative design and when not in use, the screen can be folded away out of sight. And what’s really nice is that you can purchase an under counter TV with a lot of great features like a DVD player, AM/FM radio, magnetic remote and clock timer.
The under cabinet TV’s space saving design and convenience have made it a popular option in kitchen upgrades and remodeling projects. And almost every new home model is featuring the under counter LCD TVs in the kitchen.
So, what would be a suitable screen size for your under counter TV?
You’ll want to be able to view the screen from the far end of the kitchen so that you won’t miss your favorite shows no matter what you’re doing.
Give some thought to choosing the very best location for your TV. Because an under cabinet TV is permanently attached, you’ll want to be certain that you’ve got the best spot for it. Consider where you spend most of your time in the kitchen. In my house, it seems like we’re mostly near the sink and the counter where we do most of the food prep. Now, look around for a cabinet where the view will be unobstructed. You’ll probably find that their are several good possibilities to consider.
Next, you’ll want to confirm that there is a an outlet nearby your chosen location. If you are using cable, you’ll also need a cable jack nearby. If you’re doing a kitchen remodel, just be sure to take the wiring into consideration early on in your design. Built-in power outlets are not usually a concern in contemporary kitchens. There are usually several used to accomodate the many appliances typically used in a kitchen.
Now, you’re ready for the installation. Be sure to follow the directions provided with your set. More often than not, the manufacturer will provide a paper template that makes positioning the mounting holes easy. As per the instructions, tape the template to the underside of the cabinet and drill the required holes. You’ll secure your kitchen TV in place with bolts passed through the cabinet holes and into the base unit. You may need to include some spacers if your cabinet has an overhang or valence, so the TV control panel will be accessible once the unit is secured in position. Make your electrical and cable connections and make sure that everything is working as it should.
Your new space saving kitchen entertainment system is ready for your pleasure.
